Hi there! I have 2 – 70.3’s 3 weeks apart this year with my A race being the second one. How would you recommend I structure that last portion of my plan to be partially tapered for the first one and still be primed for the second, my A race? I follow your 70.3 Level 3 Plans. Which by the way, netted me incredible gains and PR’s in 2022, can’t say enough good about your plans! Thank you!
I would recommend having a reduced volume recovery focused week after the first race, and then return to the last 2 weeks of the taper from the original plan. You will not need a tonne of volume, you will need to reduce the fatigue from the first race, then the fitness gained from that race come through just in time for the next one. How much recovery you need after the first race will not be fully evident until its over – so be ready to step back if needed to ensure you don’t arrive at your actual A race fit but fatigued.
