Adapting taper week by one day

I’m currently doing an Ironman 70.3 level 1 training plan and I selected Sunday as the last day to keep the rest day on Monday. The actual event is going to be on a Saturday. What is the best way to adjust the tapering (and/or the previous weeks) by one day?

I believe the easiest thing to do would be to just stick with the plan as it is applied. In other words, do the set workout on Friday knowing it’s just a shake out day in preparation for race day. Take a short bike ride to make sure the bike is working properly, and go for a short easy run. Depending on what is available to you, you may have to move workouts around that week due to travel, bike check in etc. If you can get a short swim in at the race venue, I believe it’s always a good idea and typically helps calm nerves a bit.

In other words, due what is best for you and your conditions knowing the hard work and preparation is behind you. That last workout won’t make or break your race day.

    I hope that makes sense!

Thanks. I haven’t thought much about logistics yet too. I think the hardest part will be waking up early enough to get to the venue in time for bike check-in and so on. Luckily no long-distance travel needed to get there, just a 1.5h drive. Testing the waters before the event sounds like a good idea. They already have set out the course, so that should be possible some time in the next weeks.
