    Hi all!

I’m going to finish a level 0 run maintenance plan this week and it went quite well for me. I have booked an Ultra 50k / level 0 plan (power based) already, which will start next week. I feel that I can take a bit more volume, but I want to stick with the 5-day-week of the level 0 plan and keep the remaining days for strength training. It is easier for me add some time to a single run instead of going for an additional run.
I’m aiming for 55k trail race in slightly hilly terrain (about 5000’) in May and a second one in September (42k, 8000’ very rough terrain). Would it be a good idea to switch to the level 1 plan and simply add the volume of one foundation run on top of to the endurance run at the weekend? Would that maintain the plan integrity? I understood that the difference between level 0 and level 1 is not only one more training day, right?

    Thanks
    Christian

That’s fine, but it’s better to distribute the time evenly throughout the week. So, for example, if you eliminate a 50-minute foundation run, lengthen the warm-up and the cool down of the week’s two “quality” workouts by 5 minutes apiece and add 10 minutes each to the two preserved foundation runs and the weekend endurance run.
