    Dear 8020 Endurance!

I commute to work 2-3 times per week by bike. I takes roughly 30 minutes.
I am mostly in zone 1 and 2. So it is basically a CF3 workout.

Should I count them to my training plan or are they too short for a “real” training session? Do they have any training benefit?

Is there any other way to utilize these commutes?

Currently I am training for my first half distance race in September. I am currently on Half Ironman lvl 0 plan to which I add 1 run workout each week.

    Thank you for your answer!

Sorry it is both ways 30 minutes, so daily it adds up to 60 minutes.

    Hi Adam,
I would not consider your commute junk miles, in fact that 60mins of commuting at low intensity is a integral part of developing your aerobic and general fitness towards your 70.3 event. I would count them, but also be sure to still include your cycling sessions with the appropriate intervals to keep the 80/20 balance in your training. If you keep the effort of your commutes in those lower intensity they should not have an impact on the rest of your training.
