Hello! I have a question about my upcoming marathon plan.

Every other week I have my children and only have the opportunity to run on my lunch breaks. In other words, a maximum of 5 sessions that are 30-40 minutes long. No long sessions on the weekend, etc

The week that I don’t have my kids, I can run as much as I want.

I spontaneously think like this: Weeks with the children, I focus on a lot of quality workouts, intervals, threshold, hills, etc

The other weeks without children, I focus on as much volume as possible, long sessions, marathon pace, etc

    How would you do? ☺️

(My last marathon 3:45h and my early summer goal 3:30h)

T, that’s really a great solution, and what I would do if I were creating a custom plan for you.

And, the good news is that the 80/20 ratios don’t have to be completed over 7 days. You could perform 50/50 one week and 95/5 the next and still be very, very close to 80/20 ratios overall.

    Hi David!

Thanks for the reply and feedback!
50/50% and 95/5% sounds like a good total
    distribution of easy/hard effort!

So for example “intensity weeks” total 3h (90min
    easy and 90 min hard).

And for example “volume weeks” 6h (5:40h easy and 20min hard)?

Emil, yes. In your example this is exactly 80/20: 540 minutes total between the two weeks (9 hours), of which 110 minutes is moderate to hard.
