Are there heart rate zones for swim workouts? Now that my watch (Garmin 945, and Form goggles do it too)) records heart rate during my swim, I’d like to categorize my swim HR by 80/20 zones so I can roll up all of my HR data in a week (across swim, bike and run) to confirm I am not overdoing things. Not suggesting that HR is superior to pace, either monitoring workout during the workout, or assessing the workout afterwards, but it seems it could helpful to have both pace and HR data broken down by zones to confirm 80% of duration is low effort.

Ted, I just shared with you a beta swim HR zones workout library. Look for an e-mail from TP confirming that you want it added to your library. It’s more alpha than beta, but give it a shot and let me know how it works. Since you can’t export from TP you’ll just have to memorize your zones from the workout details before you start your swim.

It currently uses the same %s as bike and run, but I know that’s not right. That’s just our default zones and we’ll have to adjust them. It’s not a high priority for us yet, but as HR becomes more common with swimming we’ll formally roll it out.
