I am currently training for an HM in November currently with the L1 plan. I am currently at a 14 min mile for foundation & endurance runs. My concern is that I won’t get enough distance because of how slow I am. Would it make sense to move up to the L2 plan just to add more time and therefore more distance?

    D,

Thanks for using our plans. That might work, but only if you can truly meet the time commitments of the L2 plan. It’s better to meet 95% of the Level 1 plan than 85% of the Level 2 plan, for example.

You can also increase your long runs by 20-30 minutes to get in a few more miles, sort of like a Level 1.3 plan. That would get you up to 2.5 hours for your longest run, and push many other runs over 2 hours, which should get you plenty of HM-type duration.

    David
