    Hi 80-20

I’m into week 7 of lvl 3 ironman plan and am handling the volume of training, recovering well and feeling like I could do more.

    But the question is should
I do more if I feel like I can? Or should it feel manageable at this time give it will ramp up in the future?

I’ve done the level 2 70.3 plan prior, so this volume at the moment 12.5hrs and 850 TSS feels manageable. I am tired or a little sore after some sessions but it doesn’t last and I recover.

I was thinking about adding some more:
    1. Zone 2 swimming – this is my weakest leg
    2. Zone 1-2 running – to build stronger run leg

I have to stop myself from doing extra sessions :o|

Or does adding additional volume at this stage have no real benefit and should save the energy/motivation for the last 6-8 weeks of training as it has the most direct influence on race performance.

Thanks for any advice team 🙂

Should add I use whoop – my recoveries are usually Green or Amber, never Red – the last 3 weeks have been average 63% recovery.

Adding more lower volume technique and resilience building training right will be fine. I would focus on the swim as this sounds like an area that you are still developing. You could for instance overlay a Swim Stronger Plan to your Ironman Plan and that will give you extra volume without over-training risks.
