Hi guys, I’ve read most of Matt’s books and have of late focused on the nutrition angle to improve my performance. I’m into the 12-15mi long run part of training and I have a question about whether or not the in-run and/or post-run fueling should or should not be added to my total daily macros? For example yesterday my 14mi progression run included a total of ~137g carbs in and just after the run. Those 500+ calories ensured I way overshot the daily baseline intake I’ve worked out using info from Matt’s books.
So the question is what do I do with in/post-run nutrition… is it added to the daily average or included with?
Thanks very much in advance for feedback.

    Hi JB,
Great question. My take is that your in-training nutrition intake is not included in your daily total macros. It’s a good idea to keep a track of your in-training fueling intake in terms of carbs and hydration separately to your daily diet.
