Marathon Level 3 – Taper phase

    Hi all,

    For those of you who are familiar with it, I would like to hear your opinion about the taper phase of the Marathon Level 3 plan.

    Isn’t a 31km long run with 26km at MP only 2 weeks out a bit too aggressive?
    Especially when week 17 doesn’t really cut back a lot on neither intensity nor mileage, and the only real week of taper is week 18.

    Has any of you tweaked the plan in order to accommodate a more conservative taper?
    Or am I worrying too much and I will be well rested come Marathon day by just following the plan?

    I’m also on the level 3 marathon plan, but I’m not concerned. I did the level 3 for my half earlier this year and it is a similar taper. It featured a 13 mile pace run 2 weeks out. I felt great on race day and easily ran a PR. I realize a half and a full are not the same, but I anticipate feeling great on race day come marathon day given my previous level 3 taper experience.
