Maraton pace runs: Target even splits or overall pace?

    For my upcoming final 16.1 mile marathon pace workout, should I target to have even splits at marathon pace or to complete the run at my overall marathon pace goal? My plan for race day is to run negative splits, so I was thinking it might be best to practice that?


    Since you are focusing on pace and plan to negative split the marathon, you can certainly practice that for the last long workout!

    If you find that you aren’t able to negative split the last long run, there is nothing wrong with reassessing the plan and focusing on your goal pace.
