Plan Transitioning

    I am currently planning on running a half marathon in February and am about to begin the half marathon level 1 training plan. My goal is to also run a marathon in the spring time and I am interested in training for it using the marathon level 1 training plan. I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to best transition from a half marathon plan (once I have completed the half marathon in February) to a marathon plan.



    It would really depend on what the time frame is between the 2 races. If they are relatively close together, perhaps you could use the marathon plan for the half marathon training.  The ideal situation would be if a 13 mile run fit in to the training calendar to coincide with the half marathon you are planning to run.

    If you are planning on running the half marathon, then taking a few weeks to recover, and begin marathon training, there is nothing wrong with starting at the beginning of the marathon plan to ensure you are building up your mileage correctly and efficiently.
