Brian, candidly, if you are on flat terrain almost all the time, the power meter is a minor upgrade. Sort of like the difference between the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. Yes, an upgrade, yes, quantifiably better, but not much. Yes, the device compatibility is what you describe, sort of 2 steps forward one step back.
