Reading a post on slowtwitch (https://forum.slowtwitch.com/forum/Slowtwitch_Forums_C1/Triathlon_Forum_F1/Sweet_Spot_IS_Threshold._You_shouldn’t_train_at_FTP._Change_my_mind.__P7854020/?page=unread#unread) I noticed a lot of people do a 5 minute all out effort before doing a 20 minutes ftp test (× 0,95). Otherwise the ftp number would be too high is the thought behind it. What’s your opinion/experience on this?
Doing a 5min CP before an FTP or say the Wahoo (before sufferfest) 4DP test is a way to get a closer to real life fatigued FTP number. There are easier ways to do this>
Here are 2 blogs that cover your options:
How your VO2max affects your intensity zones:https://www.8020endurance.com/how-your-vo2max-affects-your-intensity-zones/?fbclid=IwAR3qt_Ur41D7pSB7Y8oETTeuMhABvOoB-Xy3lEC4ew3AMEgtBbBD3Usxv4A
And another article on not testing when fresh:https://www.8020endurance.com/make-sure-youre-tired-for-your-next-fitness-test/
I think both of these give some further perspective on FTP tests and results and let you do the testing that works for you to get the most realistic training zones.
