    I just did a 70.3 on Sunday. (4:38) First race of year. I used the level 1 70.3 plan. I have one more, a sprint in 2 weeks. I was wondering what the best plan to take leading up to the sprint. If I should try any formal training or just a rest week this week and the taper for race week.

    Clay, first, you can’t just drop a casual reference to a 4:38 and let it slide. Well done! That’s close to qualifying time for many age groups, did you make the cut?

    For your Sprint, load the last two weeks of the Sprint plan but cut out any running for this week, just swim and bike as written. Next week all as written.

    Thanks David. The main reason I put the race time to indicate fitness level for you to use. Didn’t know if that would make a difference. It was a best time for me. I’m 46 and switched to the level 1 plan for better recovery. It worked good for me. I believe I will be using level 1 going forward I’ve always thought more was better but not for me the older I get.
