I am looking at the Marathon 1 plan and am wondering if I would be over doing it with these modifications:
Week 18: Race a 50k(A Race)
Week 19-20: Recover
Week 21-22 Train(Not sure if it would make sense to build here)
Week 23: Start Second Taper
Week 24: Race a Marathon (B Race)
End Phase
I would love to add a 1/2 in prior, (maybe week 8) but am wondering if this would be all be too much.

Scotty, I don’t have any concerns with this plan. It provides sufficient recovery, a reasonable period of training before the marathon, and a correct taper. The timing between the two events is not ideal, but it’s enough, particularly coming from a 50K to a Marathon.
No objections to the half, but it would indeed be best if done before Week 10.
The online run plans are indeed different from the book plans. We constantly update our online plans. However, your book plan is fantastic.

For this phase, would you make the week 18 race or 24 your A race? When you say timing is not optimal, would you add more or less? I was thinking it would not be good to go past 24 weeks before taking a good rest.
Scotty, I would prefer that Week 18 was your A race, but you should choose the one that is more important tot you. If they are somewhat equal, then the 50K should be the A race.
Yes, I’d prefer more time in between the two events, 8-10 weeks would be ideal. But, you can’t always choose your event’s dates!
