Is it possible that there is an incorrect 5K workout in my half marathon plan? I’m in the last hard week of training with 2 weeks left of taper. I already did a steady state run this week plus to day I’m doing a “dress rehearsal” workout with 8 miles at goal pace. On Saturday there is a 6 mile workout with 8 x .37 @ 5k pace. It appears to focus on 5K racing and pacing. I realize that some 5k pacing is very good training even for the half marathon but the description appears to be focusing on the 5K race. I switched my Thurs and Sat runs so normally this w/out would fall on today, Thurs. Thanks.

PS I’m loving my 80/20 plans. This is my second one. It has really helped me to get back in the game.

    HI Melissa,
    Thanks for using 80/20 Plans.
The 5k pace intervals workout is not an error in your plan. It is there by design. Coach Matt includes a brief explanation in the workout description on how these pace intervals help not only training for a 5k but also a great fitness builder in shorter and longer distances.

Look at this session like any of your other Thursday interval sessions – the only difference being you are running for a distance and to a self selected 5k pace.
