    Hi All,
I’m curious to know how and when anyone builds the use of recovery boots (Normatec) and percussion guns (HyperVolt+) into their training plan. I am using the IM Level 1 and Strength Plans at the moment and would like to evolve my recovery tool use alongside the plans. I realize that there are generic guidelines, but I want to ensure that I use these tools in a manner that is directly relevant to the 80/20 approach. Also, if anyone has any foam rolling or other tips, I’d love to hear them. Thanks in advance for your help.
    Cheers,
    Graham

Graham, I’m a regular compression boot user (when I can tear it away from my wife and kids, they love ’em!). I don’t have a set schedule, it’s just when I’m on the couch and remember to use them. Twice a week?

In theory, these boots should work. Empirically, I’m not aware of any hard data.

No opinion on percussion guns, have not have the experience nor the literature.

I would also like to hear about any foam rolling tips from our group. I’m staring at one right now, just realized I have not used it in about a year.

I don’t foam roll lot, just the lower body, but I do it consistently several times a week as part of a mobility/stretching routine in the evening.

It does help getting to a full stretch and definitely helps with recovery and removing the “knots”.

An even bigger component to recovery for me is being certain to maintain hydration and electrolyte balance year round. Initially I thought my requirements for increased consumption was due to my age, but others who have heard my story tell me they also had very noticeable improvements to their training and recovery.
