Reducing Plan by 3 weeks

    Hello, I am currently in Wk1 of 80/20 Cycling: Gran Fondo – >160km or multi-day – Level 3….I have an event at the end of Wk15 so need to cut out 3 weeks of Plan training, I have started week 1 so will continue with that but am thinking that I might jump to week 5 after that which should correct the event day to week 18 or do you recommend I maybe pull 3 single weeks out at various stages i.e. week 5, 9 and 13 or just delete weeks 16, 17 and 18…I am used to Trainerroad workout plans so 3 weeks raising the intensity and then week 4 a recovery week which I am not seeing with this plan so some advice would be nice….I dont really want to delete the last 3 weeks as they may be the best gains but I could be wrong.




    I am more than a little impressed. I started that level 3 plan, and ended up dropping back to level 2, which I recently finished.
    I found trying to do the Endurance rides on an indoor trainer a bit much.
    I’m a Randonneur, and have a bunch of events coming up, one every 2 weeks, so the notion of preparing for “an event” wasn’t really meaningful for me.
    In level 2, 3 of the last 4 weeks are tapers. Do you need/want that much? If not, skipping 2 of the 3 could give you 2 of the weeks you need.
    I’d recommend completing week 1, and then picking one of weeks 2-4 to give you the third week.


    Thanks…I did a check and weeks 17/18 are taper weeks, your reasoning is pretty sounds though I’m not sure I want to remove 17 as I may need the 2 weeks to Taper but it’s certainly a thought. Will see what others may throw my way before overthinking it. cheers
