    Hi guys,

I’m 3 weeks into the Lvl2 Ironman plan and absolutley loving it.

Unofrtunately last week i did a run on a treadmill and felt something go in my calf. I have been working on this seperately but am finding that i can run relatively comfortably in z1&2 but anytime i try and pick up the pace i can feel my calf pinching up again.

I suspect i need to just back off the running for a week or so to let it heal up but not sure whether you recommend i adjust anything else in my program to make up for this? My event is still 20 weeks away but i just dont want to throw away the significant progress i am making or conversley end up massively loading myself up on return to health (because the program will have kept progressing).

Any advice on whether you recomend either a) stop running completely, or b) its ok to continue with the scheduled runs but in z1&2 only would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

It is hard to offer advice without a clear understanding of what is going on. I would advise not running through pain. Otherwise generally it is ok to train if there is no pain. I would suggest getting a professional opinion from a local Physical Therapist for return to running and rehab if it does not resolve with rest.

    Best,

    Dr. Gregg DC
