    Hi guys,

Thanks for such a great plan. I have your book and am completing week 2 of the maintenance program and I can already see a big gain. Each workout feels very solid when I finish, which is a huge change from my floundering around I was doing.

I am doing Ironman Coeur d’Alene at the end of June 2021. It will be Ironman #7 for me. My question may be a little premature, but I’m a planner. CdA is very hilly, so I want to make sure I am prepared for that. How can I modify the plan to make sure I get in plenty of workouts that involve climbing on both the bike and run? I previously would do a semi-hilly ride (on Zwift) on Wednesday, say 2k climbing, then 3.5-4k+ climbing during my long ride on Saturday. Same with runs – I would always do hill repeats on Thursday. Is this OK? How do I modify your plan, or do I modify it?

    Thanks,

    John

    John,

Great to hear from you, and welcome aboard. This issue is addressed in our document How to Adjust Your 80/20 Training Plan for a Specific Course or Conditions on our Resources page.

However, if this document does not fully answer your question, as it is high level, come back to us here and we’ll discuss further.
