    Hi all,

I am having some frustration with the swim workouts synching or not to TrainingPeaks once I am finished.

I am manually loading the structured workouts to my Garmin Fenix for swims. I have that part down and it is cumbersome, but better than trying to memorize it or whatever. That works fine.

However, when I finish the workout I have encountered multiple different results in TrainingPeaks that I don’t understand.
    1. The swim is imported from Garmin as a unscheduled swim and has its own tile in the TP calendar.
    – This is easy enough, I can drag and drop the 2 tiles in TP online and it will merge the data and mark the scheduled swim complete as planned.
    2. The swim is imported from Garmin as the scheduled swim, BUT it does not mark the swim complete as planned. It turns gray like an unplanned workout.

This is undoubtedly a vanity question, but I want to see the correct compliance numbers in TP.

Thanks for the help! Let me know if I have my process broken.

    Wolfe,

Can you attach to me in TP at https://home.trainingpeaks.com/attachtocoach?sharedKey=OKYJVWHNFAPPG and the next time this happens please point it out to me, and don’t fix it until I have a chance to look at it.

It’s odd, I can’ explain it, I’d have to see both scenarios in your account to troubleshoot.

It actually happened with my swim today. Not sure how to point it out on TP but I did link to you.

OK, I see it. I take it the SMI1 you did yesterday was already planned, and you did the drag and drop feature.

Of course, if the SMI1 was not planned, and you just did the workout, this is working as designed. But, I suspect you did the drag and drop thing, which merged the planned and workouts, but still did not carry over the planned data with the merge.

I regret I can’t explain it, and will have to refer you to TP. Both should be working. If the planned workout and the completed activity are a) on the same day b) the same activity type and c) within 20% of the planned distance/duration, TP should sync them up. In your case, it’s not working.

No, I did not do the drag and drop for this one. I did the workout and it synced from Garmin but did not get marked as complete. Maybe because all the “planned” data is missing? I don’t know why it’s missing though.

Dang, I still can’t explain it. It’s like the sync just wiped out your planned data. So, it is pairing in this this case, but clearing the planned data. I’d still have to refer you to TP, but please report back what they say.

    Hey Guys,
I also had a look from my side and can see what is happening. There are some swim workouts that are not showing the planned distance – the rest periods can disrupt the swim workout distance calculation – for example you have SCI1 on the 19th June – it has no planned time or planned distance – so when you complete this workout it is not going to have any information from which to give you the traffic light indication. To fix this you can enter in an estimated time or calculate the distance and when you complete the workout it will sync up. Our swim workouts are all structured but TrainingPeaks unfortunately doesn’t do a great job with them right now and there is no rhyme or reason for why some of the workouts lose the calculations when applied to athletes calendars.

Leyla, brilliant! Thank you. I’ve seen this with TrainingPeaks where it will randomly remove the planned distance from a swim workout, especially if you move the swims around. Wolfe, check out https://www.8020endurance.com/8020-workout-library/ and you can see the proposed distances of all swim workouts. If one is missing, you can fill it out before your swim. If a lot are missing, try unloading and reloading your plan altogether.
