    Hi,

I just switcht form my 80/20 pace-based marathon plan to the same power-based plan. I realized that the same runs do not have the same TSS scores in pace vs. power. Actually there is quite a big difference in TSS. E. g. next Sunday, I will have a Long Run (RL31) which is 23 km long. The pace-based run on the plan showed 197 TSS, wheras the power-based run only has 173 TSS. This is a difference of 13% which distorts the CTL charts. Any Idea what the reason is for the difference in TSS scores between power and pace?

    Thanks
    Urs

    Hi albiurs,

Discrepancies in TSS are often due to the TrainingPeaks zone settings for your run power not being set correctly. Ensure that your run power (not default power)  is set to your correct run power threshold from a recent test and this will provide the correct predicted TSS. Due to the physiological differences between the different metrics pace and power will not be an  exact match – this is due to the way the TSS is pulled from the IF and the training zone ranges.

I recommend reading more on this with these resources:

Any other questions or issues let us know.

    Cheers

    Coach Leyla
