Hi all! My level 3 marathon plan calls for a HM pace run on Sept.5, but there’s a HM race here in my hometown this coming Saturday, the 28th. What should I do about the workouts? Just do them as is? Or should I flop the entire week?

For example: this week calls for over/under intervals + descending intervals + a long run with lots of MPs; next week calls for a 10k time trial + progression intervals + a HM race. Should I just switch the entire week? Or only the long run with MPs and the HM race?

    Thanks for your thoughts!!

Just to clarify, are you racing two half marathons on consecutive weekends or just the one?

Sorry, I misunderstood what you wrote. I recommend you bump the marathon-pace run to next weekend. Do a 20-minute foundation run the day before the half, take a rest day the day after the half, and do a 30-minute recovery run two days after the half, then resume the plan.

OK, awesome. Thanks, Matt! I’m really enjoying the cycle and the training plan, by the way. Feeling strong and ready heading into the peak weeks. Thank you!
