I’ve been using the 80/20 plans since May and have some questions about what you should do when coming to plan longer term…

Beginning in May I completed a 5k level 1 plan, which finished on the 9th of June and then dropped straight into week 5 of a level 1 10k plan, which finishes in two weeks. (I dropped the first four weeks to make sure it finished in the right place)

After my race on the 4th of September, I’ve got 11 weeks until I need to begin my half marathon plan (level 2) for a March race next year.

In that 11 weeks, I could drop straight into another 9-week 5k plan or possibly do something else.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I progress the training in the mesocycles? Should I give more space between plans? If I did what should I do? I don’t want to keep losing my fitness (as I have done when injured), but also don’t want to get injured…

    Thanks in advance

    HI Gsholling,
I just answered a similar questions here regarding off season and how to periodise your your training over the year: https://www.8020endurance.com/topic/off-season/#post-17824

If this doesn’t quite answer your query let me know and I can follow up in more detail.
