ParticipantHi all,
I read a lot about how to sync 80/20 trainingplans to Trainingpeaks (TP) or the Stryd Power Center. However, if I try to import a file downloaded myself from the 80/20 Workout Library, TP nor Stryd PC is able to read and so import the FIT-file.
Am I doing something wrong (except not bying a traingingsplan 😉 or is there a sollution?
Thanks.June 2, 2022 at 5:16 am #17272leyla@8020endurance.com
KeymasterHi Stan,
Our web based workout library are .fit files for uploading to compatible devices (such as garmin devices).
Regrettably, these raw .FIT planned workouts cannot be uploaded directly into Garmin Connect, Zwift, Final Surge nor TrainingPeaks for future planning purposes. This is a limitation of those platforms. You can, however, upload your completed activity into these platforms like any other activity that you complete.
Each manufacturer and device has different methods for loading a .FIT file workout, and you’ll want to review your device’s documentation for details. For Garmin devices, we have provided a set of instructions.https://www.8020endurance.com/how-to-load-a-fit-file-on-your-garmin-device/

ParticipantThanks coach Leyla. That is something to regret indeed. I’ve been uploading workouts directly to my garmin FR935 for some time now (for which I would like to express my appreciation to the 80/20-team!), but these only show up in the garmin run-app, not in the stryd-app on the watch.

ParticipantI need to follow up with this question. Once I have completed a Swim (loaded FIT directly to Garmin watch) it uploads to TrainingPeaks just fine, but it does not go toward my compliance of the 80/20 plan. Is there a way to associate the data into the plan or is this just a limitation of the integration between the 2 platforms?

ParticipantI figured this out on my own today! In TP on a web browser you can drag one completed workout on top of an uncompleted workout to merge the data and keep your compliance.

KeymasterStan, I suspect that Stryd needs the profile to be a Power profile on the workout to show up in the Stryd app. Our free .FIT files are generic, not a specific HR, Pace or Power profile, just the steps, duration and zone. the alternative is for us to create 3 types for each workout: Pace, Power HR.
Of course, if you buy one of our plans on TP, the Power workouts there do sync to the Stryd app because they have the power profile sent with the workout.
Wolfe, I replied to you in your other thread, I’ll have you attach to me and I’ll take a look directly at your un-sync’d workouts.

ParticipantThank you very much for your answer David! I fully understand that the free .FIT files are generic. It’s just that, first, I am that kind of nerd who tries to built his own trainingplans that fit my irregular agendas, and second, by principle, I refuse to buy monthly/annual subscriptions, so I try to avoid them on Trainingspeaks or Stryd.
Do you, or someone else, know whether, would I buy a 80/20 trainingsplan, there is a possibility to apply the trainingsessions without a subscription-version of TP and Stryd?June 4, 2022 at 7:56 am #17288Gerald
ParticipantStan,
You can use the plans on TP using the free version. You would be limited on what you can do with the plans. You would not have access to adjust any future workouts. Also, you would lose my favorite feature, the workout builder. It allows you to adjust and build your own workouts.
TL:DR Yes – But with a loss of some functionality.

KeymasterStan, Gerald is right on, you don’t need TP Premium to use our plans, and don’t even need TP Premium to sync to Stryd. However, TP makes it as annoying as possible. It’s possible to cycle for free from San Francisco to Los Angeles, but by about Bakersfield you’ll really wish you’d paid for the plane ticket.
We do offer TrainingPeaks Premium for just $108 a year. No recurring payment, just a one-time payment. See https://cart.8020endurance.com/8020-endurance-trainingpeaks-annual/

ParticipantThanks Gerald and David for your replies!
I’ve been away a few days, among others for my 14yo-son’s first 1/8 triathlon 🙂I will have a closer look at the 80/20/TP bundles and subscriptions.
Keep happy training!
