I know that wrist based heart rate monitors get a bad rap. But are they really all that bad? For cycling and swimming, yes. I get it. But what about running? I recently purchased the Scosche Rhythm 24. I’ve been using an auxiliary HR data field that allows you to record heart rate from both devices. For every run I’ve recorded with both, there’s basically no difference in heart rate. This morning, I used it for an interval run. When I overlay the separate graphs (wrist HR / auxiliary HR), they’re virtually identical. A minor difference here and there, if you zoom in. But nothing of any substance. Just curious about your experience if you’ve used an external HR monitor for running.
