Zone 2

    80/20 zone 2 median for me is about 190 W. Coggan’s zone 2 is about 30 W less. Assuming both zone 2’s are intended for endurance, why is 80/20 so much higher?

    Hi E,

    The 80/20 Zone system uses the range 70-83% of FTP as your Zone 2 range, Coggan uses 56-75%. Why? I don’t know to be honest. Each system out there (and there are many) will have it’s own way of slicing up the pie of ranges that relate to different physiological markers. Your best bet is to find a system and stick with. If a plan is built around a unique zone system it’s also worth following that zone system to get the most out of your training.
