Zones not lining up

    Hey everyone,

    I’m aware this question is answered in the Q&A, but I don’t get much wiser from it.
    My pace and heart rate zones don’t line up. When I’m in (upper) Zone 2 for pace I’m in (upper) Zone 1 for heart rate.

    I used a 20 min TT to capture my LTHR and threshold pace both at once.

    Is there something you would advise me to do? Do a new TT? Talk test? Write down the pace of every HR zone upper and lower threshold?

    Should I run faster for my foundation runs so my HR goes up to zone 2 instead of Z1? Or stick with using pace (in Z2), but with the lower HR?

    It’s better if you focus on either HR OR pace. Not both. If you are focusing on heart rate, then you will focus on those zones, knowing that your pace will most likely slow down a bit in the beginning of your training. Over time, you will find that your pace will increase, while your HR stays lower.

    Also, make sure your zones are set up correctly in Training Peaks by following this guideline:
